The MAPPAE project, an acronym for Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Pathways Across Europe, aims to create a multi-sensory, tourist and cultural thematic route linking European destinations united by a common tradition in medicinal and aromatic plants.
MAPPAE unites six European countries-Croatia, Bosnia, Cyprus, Italy, France and Malta-and closely links small and medium-sized enterprises in the cultural and tourism sectors.
The project is inspired by the principles of “slow tourism” and “experiential tourism” conceived as a multi-sensory experience. It aims to stimulate visitors with innovative tourism itineraries that target European and intercontinental markets, particularly China and Russia.
There are 12 itineraries planned, designed to enjoy the universe of herbs and fragrances. The tourism offerings will be usable through a Web portal, video and multimedia content, and a specific App leveraging innovative technologies such as iBeacons.
