THE PROJECT

 

Innovative products from organic edible flowers – Biofiori aims to develop techniques for the conservation and enhancement of edible flowers, establishing better conditions for conservation and characterization of the chemical components present with particular reference to the presence of heavy metals.

 

It is promoted by AIAB Liguria in collaboration with the partner and lead company RZERO of Leca d’Albenga, UNIGE, CREA-FSO and Coldiretti Savona. The project is funded by the Rural Development Program 2014/2020 – M16.2.A Support for pilot projects and for the development of new products, practices, processes and technologies – FA 2A; Liguria Region.

ACTIVITIES

Terre dei Savoia brings the previous experiences of the ANTEA (realized with the CREA of Sanremo) and ESSICA projects.

For the innovative project, the Association provides its experience in the sector and the new ESSICA Lab which will be used for technical extraction tests (microwaves and ultrasounds) and drying of edible flowers.

Essica Lab is located inside the MÚSES European Academy of Essences at Palazzo Taffini, via Sant’Andrea 53, Savigliano, Cuneo. It is a center of excellence, equipped with state-of-the-art machinery. It serves as a place for exchange and discussion, open to local producers and dedicated to high-profile experimentation in the field of aromatic herbs in some key areas.

AIAB

AIAB Liguria is the Regional Association of AIAB (Italian Association for Organic Agriculture) of organic producers, technicians and citizens-consumers.

Crea-Fso and is an independent research institution that follows national and international projects dedicated to the world of floriculture, with the monitoring of the Ministry.

Coldiretti Savona is an agricultural organization rooted in the area that has a total of 5,000 members; it is engaged, among others, in the field of personal services, training and research.

The University of Genoa is an Italian state university founded in 1481 based in the historic center of Genoa, with branches in various cities of Liguria.
